The Ga Flex Competition is underway in Candler County! Students are preparing their mission statements, business plans, etc. in their first workshop of the competition.
To provide an outline of FLEX, the applicant pool first begins with an undesignated number of applicants. After drafting the business plan, they will compete to be a top ten competitors. The students will then move on to learn how to approach the bank to request a $100 loan to kickstart their business. Each of the ten finalists will receive the $100 seed money, which will be required to be paid back to the program. Workshops will continue through February, where the top ten will participate in an expo to allow community members to view and learn about their company. Finally, the students will present their businesses to a panel of judges to determine the three top finalists. These three will then compete locally for prize money to be used to grow their business. The winner of the local competition will travel, along with the mentor, to compete at the state level for a chance to win $10,000!
