Ask your child to teach you technology skills Young people are great at picking up the latest technology. And it reinforces their skills when they teach them to others. So, when you are working on the computer or using a new app, ask your child to help you (even if you know what you're doing). Watch closely. If your child does something clever, ask, "Can you show me how you do that?"

Increase sleep hours to improve learning Studies show that getting even one more hour of sleep per night can help children be more alert in school and remember material with greater accuracy. To make sure that your child gets at least nine to 12 hours of sleep, provide plenty of exercise, and avoid serving caffeinated beverages. Then, create a soothing bedtime routine that includes reading together and talking about something positive from the day. https://tpitip.com/?15aF19702

Social skills help your child get along in school One of the best indicators of children's future school success is their ability to interact in positive ways with others. Class discussions, group projects and activities all require students to work with one another. To reinforce social skills at home, role-play being friendly, honest and an attentive listener with your child. Teach your student to be a good sport.

A systematic approach can help your child read and remember Your child will read many textbooks and nonfiction sources in a school career. To foster success with reading to learn, encourage your child to preview the text by reading the main headings and scanning the pictures. Next, your student should read the introduction, summary and any questions that follow the passage. Then your child can read the main text in short sections, making sure to understand each section before moving on. https://tpitip.com/?14lN19702 Un enfoque sistemático puede ayudar a su hijo a leer y recordar Su hijo leerá muchos libros de texto y fuentes de no ficción durante su carrera escolar.

An E-Tip for parents from The Parent Institute: Mistakes are the beginning of learning Everyone makes mistakes. But when mistakes are viewed negatively, kids learn to fear failure. This makes them less likely to take positive risks or finish things they don't think they can do perfectly. When your child makes a mistake, stay calm and discuss what can be learned from it. In general, try to focus more of your attention on the things your child does right rather than on mistakes. https://tpitip.com/?14lL19702 Los errores son el comienzo del aprendizaje Todos cometemos errores, pero cuando los errores se ven de forma negativa, los niños aprenden a temer el fracaso.

Let your child make some schoolwork choices Giving your child some choices about how to do school assignments can reduce study time problems. Let your child decide things like: whether to work in a bedroom or at the kitchen table, whether to start right after school or after relaxing a bit, and whether to start with math or reading. If a choice doesn't work out, let the consequences teach your child to make a different choice next time. https://tpitip.com/?14lF19702

Offer your child funny and interesting reading Sometime between ages seven and nine, children typically transition from mostly listening to and looking at books to reading them on their own. How can you support this transition? Boost your child's motivation to read. Seek out books that make your child laugh or want to know what happens next. Nurture your elementary schooler's curiosity. Then, demonstrate how to look up the answers to your child's questions in reference books or online. https://tpitip.com/?14lC19702

To encourage reading, spread out a blanket Here's a tip for promoting family reading: Grab a blanket and spread it on the floor. Have family members each pick a book and lie on the blanket. Then, enjoy reading together! When your children are young, you can do the reading, but as your kids grow up, they will enjoy reading to everyone else. Blanket reading time is a great way to connect and turn your children into happy readers. https://tpitip.com/?14kX19702

E-Tip for Parents from The Parent Institute Support and encourage responsible learning To be responsible students, children must take the job seriously. For that, they need their families' support. Make learning a priority in your family's life. Visit the library, explore new places, take nature walks. Then, establish routines that make reading and studying an expected part of each day. Encourage your child to keep trying when schoolwork is tough. And when your student has questions, demonstrate how to find the answers.
